A bit of history: “This rally used to be held every year until 11 years ago when the rally host became unable to continue.  In 2018, Russ Pry, then president of the Alabama Airstream Club, resurrected it after over 10 years and it became an instant hit with Airstreams attending from many states.

Here are some notes from the 2018 Special Event Rally:
A WBAC event, Athens Old Time Fiddlers Special Event Rally, was held in conjunction with the Tennessee Valley Old Time Fiddlers Convention (TVOTFC) at the Athens State University campus (ASU) in Athens, AL, on October 4 – 6, 2018. ASU is the sponsor of the TVOTFC. The last WBAC rally in conjunction with TVOTFC was over 10 years ago. The City of Athens and the ASU went out of their way to help bring the rally back. The Mayor, ASU officials, and several Athens dignitaries attended Thursday’s Welcome Dinner. The Athens-Limestone Tourist Office gave the Rally the use of their Domino Room where lots of jam sessions took place.

There were 32 trailers with 65 people registered. WBAC members attended from AL, FL, IN, KY, LA, MS, OH, PA and TN. The weather during the Rally was 13 degrees above normal, but everybody survived and had fun. Doc Bloom from the Alabama Airstream Club cooked the first night’s meal and had lots of help from members. The Rally was in two areas: Athens Big Spring Park and the ASU Ballfield. Rally tours included a ASU tour by the Archivist, Robotics Technical Park, boat ride on Wheeler Lake, a Ghost and historical tour of downtown Athens, and a tour of the Chevre Goat Cheese Factory, Restaurant, and Gift Shop in Elmont, TN. And …. of course, to see the goats that make it all possible!
